Adventures in Soulitude

“ When you follow the crowd you lose yourself, but when you follow your soul you will lose the crowd. Eventually, your soul tribe will appear, but do not fear the process of solitude.”

-Unknown

Instead of trying to make your life perfect, give yourself the freedom to make it an adventure.”

Welcome to Adventures in Soulitude and Live Edge Counseling

I’m glad you’re here.  The last several years have been challenging for all of us and our planet.  Our fast paced modern world has imposed a growing number of mental health challenges for millions of people. Giving and receiving support has never been more important. I created this site as a reminder that you are not alone.  I encourage you to ask for support when you need it, offer support when you have reserves and don’t forget the healing power of nature, and its model for resilience which we can witness daily and hold onto as inspiration.

Mission Statement

At Adventures in Soulitude, we believe that the healing and transformative possibilities when connecting with natural landscapes or the undersea world are endless.  We see all living things as resources to be protected, revered and honored.  We will always have gratitude for the lessons nature provides and the sacredness of the land and our ancestors whose wisdom came from knowing the earth intimately.  We believe you don’t go into nature but come home to nature.

We want to share that experience with you whether its in collaboration with eating disorder recovery or while working through other life challenges.

Ecotherapy Intensives for Individuals and Small Groups

Imagine dedicating a few days in nature, developing insights, processing life patterns or just exploring and honoring transitions that inevitably show up in life. Research tells us that being in nature is restorative and healing and can literally change our biochemistry.  But we don’t need research to tell us that though do we?  Think about ways nature has felt comforting, soothing, or even thrilling.  Writing these words in my garden full of growing veggies, hummingbirds, tropical flowers and warm sun is eco-therapeutic for me!  Let’s find your definition!

Individual Eating Disorder Therapy & Coaching

Its my belief that the therapeutic relationship can be the most powerful aspect of successful psychotherapy. A relationship based on authenticity, trust, genuine curiosity and compassion can make tackling the hard stuff just a little less hard.  Sharing the journey, bumps, twists and turns with someone who sees you for you is incredibly healing.  Whether you’re contemplating recovery from an eating disorder (or contemplating if you even have one), struggling with anxiety, life transitions, relationship stressors or anything else, I would be honored to walk next to you and offer my help.  I bring 25 years of clinical experience and am currently licensed in California, Colorado and Utah.  Live Edge Counseling can help.

Eating Disorder Training and Consultation for Professionals, Parents & Wilderness Programs

Do you work within a treatment program or are you a therapist struggling to support a client with disordered eating? Are you interested in building your clinical toolkit to better help with this complex and dangerous disease?  I offer two decades of program development, clinical supervision and leadership as the Founder and former CEO and Clinical Director of Shoreline Center for Eating Disorder Treatment in California.  I especially enjoy helping clinicians in nature based programs with identifying, managing and caring for eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa or Binge Eating disorders –especially when they were undisclosed or diagnosed at admission.
